Rafael Corbalan joined Kaufman, Semeraro & Liebman, LLP as an associate in 2019. Rafael graduated with honors from Pace University School of Law in 2015, where he obtained his J.D. and Certificate of Environmental Law. During law school, Rafael interned at several clinics involving energy and the environment, including the regulation of public utilities, as well as a clinic counseling individuals and underrepresented communities with respect to unemployment benefits and tax issues. Rafael was selected to compete on behalf of Pace Law in the 2015 National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition at West Virginia University, and was a semi-finalist in the competition.
Prior to law school, Rafael completed his undergraduate degree at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in International Business, with a concentration in finance and Spanish. Rafael is fluent in written and spoken Spanish.
Before joining KS&L, Rafael clerked for the Honorable James J. DeLuca, J.S.C., in the Law Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen Vicinage. After his clerkship, Rafael worked as an associate attorney at a boutique environmental law firm in northern New Jersey, with an emphasis in litigation and cost recovery for environmental remediations of residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
